Harry Hatley

Harry Hatley was born in Felsted in the Summer of 1897. He was the son of Harry and Edith Hatley, who in 1901 were living at Jollyboys:

By 1911 the family had left Felsted and were living in the Billericay registration district at Mountnessing:

Harry served as Private Soldier 23806, in the 11th Battalion, the Essex Regiment, and died on 23rd September 1916. He is buried at the Guards Cemetery, Lesboeufs, Somme, Northern France.

Harry is not remembered on the village memorials, but is commemorated on the Mountnessing War Memorial.
